2nd Pastry & Baking Class ♥

the 2nd last update for May -->
finally I spare out my time to update my blog with this :
the 2nd pastry & baking class
find this class more interesting than the previous class
as we are having more steps
but no worries, just simple steps which make up nice taste
without wasting time, let me introduce what we have made during the class
same as the previous week, 3 items are made
- apple pie
- cheese tart
- quiche lorraine

all instructions are written on the white board
our chef explains to us before we start any step
so, we start the very first one with the apple pie

the main ingredient for the pie - 5 no.s of green apple are used
we tear off the stickers on them before proceeding to the next step

the apples are peeled & cut into small pieces before putting inside a pot

nutmeg powder, raisins & sugar are added then

and now, we are going to cook the mixtures
the photo looks blur because of the heat
I should zoom in before taking this photo >.<

cooks the mixture for about 5 minutes
then, add in the mixture of the corn flour & water
continue cooking until the water turns dry

the product will be in this look after the cooking

now, it's turn for the dough
beat it for just a few minutes will do
so that the dough will not become too chewy as the chef says
please refer back to the 1st photo if you are curious about the ingredients

take a part out from the dough
spread the flour onto it so that it won't stick on the surface of the table
now, start rolling it until it becomes big & round

next, stick it on the mould
make sure the dough is bigger than the size of the mould
if not, just redo it

after that, pour the fillings inside
don't pour too much filling as the fillings may burst out during the baking process

cover the pie nicely with another piece of dough & remove the excess sides

taa-dan
this is how the pie looks after the excess parts are removed

poke gently at the side to make the upper layer sticks together with the lower layer

spread the surface of the pie with the mixture of eggs, milk & water
then, poke few holes on it
so that there is somewhere for the heat to escape while baking
after all these steps are done, we are ready to bake the pie!

just wait for about 35 - 40 minutes
then, deng deng deng deng -->
the pie is ready to be served
the apple pie is for sale as dessert at TARC restaurant
this is how our juniors served the pie

although the pie is for sale, our chef allows us to try a bite of it
tasted not bad as it is served cold
not too sweet but it tastes a bit sour actually

it's cheese tart time!
fill the mould with the suitable amount of dough
not too thick as I don't like thick crust

just fill in the cream cheese next

chocolate is added
toothpick helps a lot in this process
just simply draw out some patterns to make the tarts look attractive
my group keeps a tart looks original
after that, just put the tarts inside the oven
15 minutes baking time is needed

the tarts are taken out for cooling process

this is how the tarts look after they are baked
not much different with the unbaked tarts
cute!
but I don't really like the taste
as we don't enjoy them at the right temperature
the cheese filling tastes YUCK!
I think the tarts will have taste better if they are either been chilled or heated
but overall, I still love the tarts as I love cheese so much
^^

our chef prepares the dough for the crust of Quiche Lorraine
so this makes our work easier
all we need to do is just roll the dough flat & round,
paste it to the mould & bake inside the oven
then, cut the onions & sausages into small pieces

put the onions & the sausages to the middle of the crust

fill in the mixture of the eggs, cream & milk
everything ends here & we gonna bake it now

ding ding *
the Quiche Lorraine is ready to be eaten now~
I love this the most among all!
the simplest steps yet the tastiest one
yummy
